Demetrius Jackson, born June 4, 1987, in Tacoma, Washington, passed away on October 27, 2024, in Seattle, Washington. He was 37 years old.
Demetrius was the cherished son of Chauncey and Annette Jackson and beloved brother to Chanita, Robert, and Terrance Jackson. Though he had no children of his own, he touched the lives of countless friends, colleagues, and students with his warmth and generosity.
He attended both Wilson and Stadium High School in Tacoma graduating in 2005, Demetrius was a gifted artist whose creativity knew no bounds. His passion for the arts led him to work as an artist, and he generously shared his talent by volunteering as a teacher at Tacoma School of the Arts. His work earned recognition from the Tacoma Art Museum, and he was known for his dedication to nurturing the artistic potential of others.
In addition to his work as an artist, Demetrius was a passionate musician and a gifted multilingual communicator, speaking four languages. He was also an accomplished author, having written two books—one focused on elevating self-esteem and his final work, Fix Fear by SIC ILL, which explored personal growth and resilience.
Demetrius's life was tragically cut short in a car accident, but his legacy of kindness, creativity, and inspiration will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the many lives he touched through his art, music, and teachings.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at Scanlin Cremation and Burial, 2021 70th Ave W, University Place, WA 98466.
