Denis Stephen BlaisNaples, FLDenis Stephen Blais 92 of Naples Florida formerly of Waterbury CT died peacefully on September 5, 2017 at Vitas Hospice with his daughter Marcy by his side.He was born on October 19, 1924 in Lincoln, RI the son of the late Ovilla and Rachel (Proux) Blais. He was married for 60 years to the late Elaine (Slason) whom he loved dearly.At the age of 17 Denis enlisted in the Navy and his first tour of duty was
WWII arriving on Normandy Beach on D-Day. While in the Naval Reserves he was called for a second tour of duty, this time the
Korean War.After the war he began raising his family in Wolcott, CT and worked for 20 years at Eyelet Specialty Co. Division of Insilco. He relocated his family to Waterbury where he started his business; D.S. Blais Steel Stamp Co. until his retirement in 1993. He was an integral part of the Waterbury industrial community creating steel stamps in the area for which he proudly served.He is survived by his three children; Susan Blais (Knapik) Marino of Naples, Denis Jr, ( fiancée Cindy Kamen) of Maine and Marcy Blais-Eckert (David) of Fort Myers, two granddaughters; Jennifer Eisenhuer and Lena Ann Marino. Along with his long-time family friend Ronald Crocco of Naples who devotedly helped care for him. He also leaves behind his beloved cat Toby. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.Denis was pre-deceased by his three brothers James, Gillis and Marcel, five sisters, Rita Brown, Hazel Anderson, Fern Hubble, Suzanne Sheehan and Barbara Ruth Fabas.The family would like to thank all of those who cared for him at Vitas Hospice, 2nd Floor staff at North NCH and Harbor Chase Memory Care.Funeral services were held on Thursday September 7, with entombment at Palm Royale Cemetary in Naples with full military honors.Muller Thompson of Naples was in charge of the arrangements.
