Our beloved Denise Leolin Innis passed away on December 20, 2021 at the tender age of 63. She was the eldest of 5 children born to Gilbert Raymond and Myrna Adaline Innis.
Denise was born on October 2, 1958 in Belize, Central America. The family migrated to Chicago in the late 1960's. Denise graduated from Aquinas Dominican High School then later received a degree in Chemistry and Biology from Mundelein College.
She married Detmer Timberlake in 1987 and together they raised 2 sons Dion (who preceeded her in death) and Dane Innis.
Denise was always passionate about working with and helping women and children. Most notable was her work with Planned Parenthood and Chicago Commons. She enjoyed the last fifteen years of her career with Harrison & Company as a successful furniture sales consultant working with Chicago Public and Private Schools. After working at Planned Parenthood, Denise contined to volunteer her time and effort there to help women and children.
Denise moved to Belize to lovingly take care of her mother prior to her passing. They had the best time dressing stylishly while traveling around, visiting family and friends , eating great food and generally ripping and running around the area! It was a wonderful time for them both. Denise endeavored to return to Belize to live and thrive. She opened her own clothing distribution business, as well as a concierge business with her cousin Nadia, to assist travelers (tourists) during their time in the city. She was very happy and at peace living in Belize and felt that it was a full circle moment for her life...her destiny.
Being one of 5 children, Denise was never shy to tell people she was the oldest! Denise with her 2 sisters, Dawn and Laura shared a deep bond and were affectionately known as the "The Innis Girls". They were either always together or on the phone with each other. If you saw one, you probably saw all three...or at least thought you did! She was also an incredible big sister to her 2 brothers, Kermit and Kerry. Admittedly...she was a little bossy.
Denise was a beautiful person inside and out. She was an impeccable dresser and carried herself with class and grace. She could always be seen wearing her signature pearls. She was a caring person who enjoyed a good conversation. She always saw the best in people and was always willing to do her part or lend a helping hand when needed.
She enjoyed being around people, but also cherished her alone time enjoying a good book or binge watching her favorite TV shows. She was a fiercely devoted and dedicated daughter, sister, mother, aunt, cousin, friend and co worker.
"We talk about Heaven being far away...It is within speaking distance ."
