Dennis J. Garbo FORT MEYERS, FL (formerly of Racine) - Dennis J. Garbo, age 66, passed away at Hope Hospice Care in Fort Myers, Florida on Sunday, February 14, 2016. Dennis was born on August 11, 1949 to the late Sam and Bernice (nee: Klingenmeyer) Garbo. He attended Lutheran High School in Racine and the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater, WI where he earned a bachelor of business degree with a major in finance/ accounting. During his career he held various corporate controller positions and also a vice president/chief operating officer position in one company. Dennis, while living in Racine, was a member of Roma Lodge where he enjoyed playing bocce with all of his friends and family. At one time he served as financial secretary of the lodge. Dennis also enjoyed getting together with his friends and going for rides or trips on his Harley- Davidson. Being able to spend time with his children and grandchildren and his close relationship with his brother and sister and other family members was what he cherished most in his life. Dennis was one of those rare people who would do anything for anybody often putting their needs before his own. Surviving are sons Michael (Amy) Garbo of Racine , Mark Garbo of Fort Myers Fl., Martin (Ashley Cook) Garbo of Vero Beach Fl.; grandchildren, Madelyn, Alex, Dominic, and Mathew Garbo; sister, Linda (Michael) Fox; brother, Gary (Dawn) Garbo; nephew, Sean Fox; niece, Abby Fox; great nephew, Landon Bell; aunt, Mary Wicklund; many other cousins and family too numerous to mention all by name. In addition to his parents,Sam and Bernice Garbo; Dennis was preceded in death by his beloved son, Mathew Garbo. Funeral services will be held in Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Friday, February 19, 2016 at 11:00 am with Rev. Jack Gilbert officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Friday from 10-11 am. Private entombment will take place in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials to the (for the study of Prostate Cancer) have been suggested.
