On June 1, 2024, Dennis Johnson of Lake City, Florida, shuffled off this mortal coil, leaving behind a trail of fishing tales and empty beer cans.
Born on February 7, 1961, Dennis was a man of many talents. He could reel in a catfish with one hand tied behind his back, and whip up a mean pot of chili in his trusty old crockpot.
His career at Cook was a storied one, filled with burnt toast and failed attempts at gourmet cooking. But he soldiered on, never once blaming the faulty microwave or his lack of culinary skills.
As a former Sgt. in the Army, Dennis knew how to command a room and keep the peace. His troops may have grumbled about his 5am wake-up calls, but they always respected his dedication to duty.
When not at work or serving his country, Dennis could be found on the banks of the nearest lake, casting his line and reeling in the big one. His fishing buddies will miss his colorful stories and generous spirit.
He may not have left behind any children, but Dennis was a proud grandparent to 10 rambunctious grandchildren who will always remember his silly jokes and endless supply of candy.
In lieu of flowers, Dennis would have preferred donations to the local fishing club or a cold beer left out in his memory. Rest in peace, old friend. Your fishing pole may be retired, but your legend will live on forever.
You can to the family or in memory of Dennis Johnson.
