Dennis P. StrommenSeptember 2, 1938 - September 14, 2013Pocatello-Dennis P. Strommen, of Inkom, Idaho passed away peacefully following an illness at a local hospital on Saturday, September 14, 2013. He was born on September 2, 1938 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Mildred (Roark) and Edward Strommen. Dennis married Carol Hansen on June of 1968 in New York at Cornell University Sage Chapel. She preceded him in death in 1998. Dennis's whole life was centered around education. He especially loved teaching Chemistry. Prior to retirement he was the Department Chair of the Chemistry Department at Idaho State University in Pocatello. He was Emeritus professor of Chemistry and an internationally known spectroscopist. Dennis loved everything French, including, the country, the language and the food. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and a sister, Janis Wells. He is survived by his brother, Timothy (Angelika) Strommen of New Berlin, Wisconsin; and sister, Jean Metz of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; brother-in-law, Patrick Wells of Mukwonago, Wisconsin; as well as many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; a wonderful friend and co-worker, Gayl (Phyllis) Wiegand and dear friend, Ruth Burrup and many others too numerous to mention. He will be greatly missed by all. Graveside services will be 12 noon on Saturday, September 21st at the Inkom City Cemetery in Inkom, Idaho. A celebration of Dennis's life will be at a later date.
