Dennis "Denny" Ralph McWilliams, of Hendersonville, North Carolina, went to be with his Lord on October 21, 2016 at the age of 70.Denny was born on December 8, 1945 in Greensburg, Pennsylvania to the late Ralph and Sarah McWilliams of Level Green, PA. He graduated from Point Park College in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with a degree in journalism and communications. He had a successful career in industrial publishing and communications sales for Chilton Company, Cahners Publishing, CapCities/ABC and Disney for thirty-five years. During his career, Denny was the recipient of multiple awards, including Salesman of the Year and the Cahners Presidents Club.Denny's career accomplishments were eclipsed by the two highlights of his life-the birth of his sons, Jeff and Brad. He is remembered by his sons as being a loving and devoted father, who enjoyed golf, travel, collecting wine, and cooking for family, friends, and community.He was an active and dedicated member of the First United Methodist Church of Hendersonville (FUMC), where the warmth of his spirit and presence were enjoyed by all. Having a passion for both service and cooking, Denny believed he could extend the blessings of the Lord through food. He volunteered in the FUMC kitchen making Wednesday night dinners and then later became a staff member for food services, where his dedication turned routine meals into opportunities for fellowship. Denny's life was forever blessed when he had the opportunity to serve on two mission trips to Puerto Rico and one to St. Croix.Denny is survived by his wife of 28 years, Kathaleen Rhoads McWilliams; sons, Jeff McWilliams (Diane) and Brad McWilliams; stepchildren, Justin (Elizabeth) Herdman and Karah (John Mark) Parschauer; 2 grandchildren, Jalyn and Austin McWilliams; and sisters, Sandra (Merle) Bohince and Vicki Doyle. He is also survived by 5 step-grandchildren, one niece and one nephew.A memorial service is scheduled at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church of Hendersonville, with a reception to follow. The Reverend Dr. Mark Ralls will officiate the ceremony.
