Obituary for Devon John Woods

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Devon John Woods, age 37, on October 15, 2023. Born on March 8, 1987, in the Bronx, New York, Devon brought joy and laughter to all who knew him. He was the beloved son of Enilda and Demetrius Woods and the cherished brother of Aiden and Derick Woods.

Devon spent his early years in the vibrant streets of the Bronx, where his love for music and art blossomed. At a young age, he moved with his family to Lima, Ohio, where he embraced the warmth of the community and formed lifelong friendships. Eventually, he made Detroit, Michigan, his home, where he pursued his passion for graphic design and creativity. Devon’s artistic spirit was evident in everything he touched, from his captivating artwork to his unique style.

Devon was known for his infectious smile, kind heart, and unwavering loyalty to his family and friends. He had a unique ability to connect with people from all walks of life and was always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a word of encouragement. His brothers, Aiden and Derick, were his closest companions, and together they created countless memories filled with laughter and adventure.

Devon was also an avid sports enthusiast, with a particular love for Volleyball . He spent many weekends playing games with friends and cheering on his favorite teams. His zest for life and passion for pursuing his dreams inspired everyone around him.

Devon is survived by his loving parents, Enilda and Demetrius; his two devoted brothers, Aiden and Derick; and a multitude of friends whose lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his vibrant spirit and the love he shared with those around him.

A memorial service will be held on January 22, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Detroit Community Center, 1234 Spirit Way, Detroit, MI. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Devon’s life and share their cherished memories.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to a local arts charity in Devon’s honor, ensuring that his legacy of creativity and kindness lives on.
