DeWitt Wright, age 80, of Bonnerdale, passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2016. He was born on October 23, 1936, at Bonnerdale, the son of Herman Benjamin Wright and Winnie Phillips Wright. On November 26, 1958, he married Barbara Smith. He was a member of Mount Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church. He was a sawyer and saw filer for Dierks Lumber Company in Mountain Pine and Hot Spring County Lumber Company in Malvern. In 1984, he and others began Mid-Arkansas Tire Company in Hot Springs and Malvern where he worked for several years. Afterwards, he worked for several tire companies in the Hot Springs area and eventually went back to sawmill work with Curt Bean Lumber Company in Amity. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Wright of Bonnerdale; his daughter and son-in-law, DeAnna and Shawn Luekenga of Glenwood; two grandchildren and their spouses, Abigail and Ryan McCormack of Hot Springs and Zane and Lindsey Luekenga of McPherson, Kansas; and two great-grandchildren, Elsa McCormack and Henry Luekenga. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, November 23, 2016, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, with Bro. Shawn Luekenga and Bro. Kyle Cowart officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, 1:00 PM until service time, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Grants Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Zane Luekenga, Ryan McCormack, Shawn Luekenga, Bill Libbert, Steve Cummins and Dodge Cowart.
