Diana Elson Stelly, 70, of Nederland, passed away on Saturday, June 22nd, 2019 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, TX, surrounded by her family.
Born to Charles Raymond Elson and Marjorie Esther Elson, née Davis, in Zanesville, Ohio, on August 7, 1948. Diana attended Adamsville High School, graduating as Salutatorian in 1966.
Diana was a proud Southpaw and had the creativity to prove it. A talented musician, Diana played the flute and the piano. She had a beautiful singing voice. She was an excellent writer, impeccable seamstress, and all-around creative and crafty person. There was nothing that she couldn't touch and make look better. She loved puzzles and inherited her father's ability to do crosswords quickly and effortlessly and always in ink.
Diana loved to travel and see new places. She lived abroad twice in her life, in Italy and in Mexico, and this was a point of pride for her. Recently retired from the Texas Department of Public Safety, it made Diana proud to support those who work to protect and serve their fellow Texans.
Diana was always smiling and had a contagious laugh that lifted the spirits of all who were around her.
Diana is survived by her husband, Terry Stelly; her sons Troy Stutes and Galen Stutes, of Beaumont, TX; her daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Dru Denison, of Meridian, MS; her grandchildren Bryan Stutes (Brittany), Brittany Bennett, Brittany Smith (Aaron), Jaron Stutes, Finley and Fletcher Denison, Tyler and Carl Stelly; and great-grandchildren Gavin and Gunner Stapleton, Carson Stutes, and Renley Henry. Diana is also survived by her brother Douglas Elson (Sherry) of Zanesville, Ohio; nieces Katrina Kudart (John) of Marysville, Ohio; Kris Elson McCutcheon of Duncan Falls, Ohio; Sandy Rutter (Mike) of Junction City, Ohio; nephew Scott Storts of Lancaster, Ohio; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents.
