Diane Portwell, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away on Friday, April 1, 2023, after a brave battle with lung cancer. She was born on January 22, 1957, in Warrenton, Virginia, United States, to proud parents James and Lisa Cooper.
Diane married the love of her life, Gerald Portwell, in 1982. They had a beautiful journey over the last 41 years together, which was filled with love, laughter, and beautiful memories. Together they raised three loving children, Linda Gray with spouse Derek, Christina Sampson with spouse Branson, and Leroy Portwell with spouse Mary. Diane cherished and loved each one of her children equally, and was always there to support them in every step of their lives.
Diane's children and grandchildren will miss her infectious laughter, her positive outlook on life, and the loving guidance she provided. She was their pillar of strength and a role model.
Diane was an active member of the Warrenton community and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Her kindness was contagious, and her generosity knew no bounds. She will be remembered by friends and colleagues for her work ethic, integrity, and her beautiful smile.
Diane is survived by her husband Gerald Portwell, her three children Linda, Christina, and Leroy, her grandchildren, and her many friends. She was cherished by her family and loved by all who were blessed to have known her.
The family will hold a visitation on Thursday April 6, 2023 from 9am - 11am at Preston and Sons of Manassas. A funeral service will follow at 11am. Interment will follow to Stonewall Memory Gardens with burial at 12pm.

Memorial Contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital in Diane’s name.
