DIANE J. HANDEL, 73 FULTON - Diane J. Handel, age 73, of Fulton, IL formerly of Clinton, passed away Friday Sept. 12, 2014 at Mercy North Medical Center. Diane was born on July 12, 1941 in Clinton, IA, the daughter of Ellis and Helen (Quigley) McNeil. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1959. She married Delbert Friis in 1959 in Clinton, with whom she had three children. She later married Gary Handel on May 11, 1995 in Clinton. Diane was a homemaker and had worked at Gramer's Florist and Burke Florist as a floral designer for over 20 years; and worked at Nutrition Plus. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Clinton Women's Club. She was an avid reader, which she belonged to a book club. She enjoyed sun bathing, wintering in Florida, and spending time with her kids and grandkids. Diane is survived by her husband, Gary Handel of Fulton, IL; three children, Todd (Jana) Friis of St. Charles, MO, Molly (Jason) Kaczinski of Clinton, and Heather Friis Bulten of Bettendorf, IA; two step children, Amy (Steve) Lawson of Davis, IL and Reba Corbin (Mike Vilmont) of Clinton; 8 grandchildren, Natalie, Cooper, Max, Sophia, Tessa, Theron, Kendall, and Micah; a brother, Craig (Roni) McNeil of Grand Rapids, MI; and a niece, Mehgan and a nephew, Matt. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17th at First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16th at the Pape Funeral Home, Clinton. Burial will be at Springdale Cemetery, Clinton. Casket bearers will be Todd Friis, Jason Voss, Jerry DeAngelis, Craig McNeil, Micha Corbin, and Jason Kaczinski. Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church or the Clinton Women's Club.
