Updike, Diane M. Diane (Heeter) Updike, age 52, received her Crown of Life on Thursday September 28, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her loving husband Jason Updike-Dousman, WI, daughter Brooke Curry-Dousman, WI, son Nathan Curry-Milwaukee, WI, mother, Wilma Heeter-Pewaukee, WI, sister Susan (Bill) Swiedarke-Lake Havasu City, AZ, sister Jean (Bruce) Stutt- Milwaukee, WI, brother Lee (Misty) Heeter-Neenah, WI, brother John (Lauri) Heeter-Appleton, WI, step-children Jessica, Amanda, Brin and Nicholas, and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her father, Walter Heeter, infant sister Cathy Heeter, and her grandparents. Diane was born on February 11, 1965 in Milwaukee. After graduating from Milwaukee Lutheran High School, she attended UW-Milwaukee and earned a degree in Criminal Justice in 1988. After various justice system roles, Diane found her passion doing social work for Jefferson Co. WI where she worked most of her career. Her most recent position was, Family Support Coordinator, helping advocate for children with mental, developmental, or physical challenges. Before her recent marriage to Jason, Diane was a devoted single mom to the loves of her life, children Brooke and Nathan. She was a social, active woman who most recently volunteered her time at Compassionate Community Care, a healing center for the chronically ill. Her family and friends will always remember her as an energetic, happy, caring, and loving person. A funeral is scheduled on Saturday October 7th, at Wisconsin Memorial Park-Family Center, 13235 W. Capitol DR, Brookfield, WI. Visitation begins at 11 AM, followed by a memorial service at 12:30 PM, with a reception and snacks to follow. Rev Ari Mattson will officiate.
