Dick Allen, 88, of South Montrose, passed away after a brief illness, at Celtic Hospice in Wilkes Barre, on Thursday, August 13, 2015. His wife of 66 years, June Allen, predeceased him in July of 2013.He was born on July 20, 1927 in South Montrose, to the late Millard L. and Hulda (Inghram) Allen.Surviving is a daughter, Terri Bennett, South Montrose; son and daughter-in-law, Dean and JoAnne Allen, Montrose; four grandchildren, Jason and Amy Bennett, Cory (Nicole) Allen and Casey Allen; two sisters and brother-in-law, Gail Fair, South Montrose, Barb and Gary Dayton; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, Adelbert Allen; and sister, Doris Palmer.Dick was a member of the Warren Lodge No. 240 F. & A.M., and several other Masonic chapters. He was Lifetime member of the V.F.W. and American Legion. He served in WWII with the United States Army. He was a member of the South Montrose Community Church as well as the South Montrose Cemetery Assoc. Dick enjoyed dancing, fishing, golfing, vegetable gardening, bowling, hunting, and playing pinochle. He was proud of his family, especially his grandchildren.A Funeral Service and Masonic Service was held on Monday, August 17, 2015, at the Daniel K. Regan Funeral Home, with Rev. Jane Pykus of the South Montrose Community Church officiating. Interment will be in the South Montrose Cemetery.
