Dick Neal Luloff, 80, of Waverly, died on Saturday evening, Oct. 29, 2016, at the Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community in Waverly from complications of cancer.Dick was born on Dec. 16, 1934, in Waverly, the son of Oscar G. and Gladys A. (Menzel) Luloff. Dick was baptized on April 19, 1935 and confirmed on April 20, 1947, at Warren Evangelical United Brethren Church rural Waverly. He attended country school in Warren Township, and was a 1953, graduate of the Waverly High School. Dick then farmed with his father until he was drafted into the U.S. Army on March 5, 1957. Dick was stationed in Fort Carson, Colo., until his honorable discharge on June 11, 1958. Dick then returned home and continued to farm with his father, taking over the farming operation in 1969. On Aug. 2, 1969, he was united in marriage to Nylene Mae Greenlee at Shell Rock United Methodist Church. The couple made their home on the Luloff Family Farm, where Dick continued to farm until he retired in 2000. Nylene died on July 27, 2004, and Dick remained on the farm until Aug. 2, 2016, when he became a resident of the Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community.Dick's memory is honored by: a brother-in-law, Robert (Sharane) Greenlee, of Shell Rock; four nieces; two nephews; and his dear friend, Kelli (Bob) Lenz, of Waverly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Gladys; a brother, Lowell Luloff, sisters-in-law, Phyllis Waddell, Roberta Luloff, and Evelyn Bartlett; and brothers-in-law, Clarence Greenlee, Delmer Greenlee and Jerry Greenlee.Celebration of Life Services will be held on Friday, Nov. 4 at 10:30 a.m. at Heritage United Methodist Church in Waverly, with the Rev. John Brockschink officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Shell Rock, with military graveside rites conducted by Avery-Slight American Legion Post 393 of Shell Rock. Public visitation will be held on Thursday, Nov. 3 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Shell Rock, 104 E. Prospect St., and also for an hour prior to services on Friday at the church. Memorials may be directed to Dick's family and online condolences may be left at www.kaisercorson.com.
