Dixon Kirt DoegeDixon Kirt Doege - father, son, brother, and friend - died on June 13, 2017, at his home in Shreveport. An avid fisherman and hunter, Dixon was never happier than when outdoors. He loved live music, LSU football and spending time with family and friends. His smile was contagious and he was always quick with a joke or kind word to be sure those around him were having fun.Dixon was born on October 5, 1972, in Houston, Texas. His family moved soon to Shreveport where he lived until he went to Blue Ridge School in Saint George, Virginia. He graduated from LSU and started his family in Shreveport where he worked for Republic Distributing and later Recknagel Oil.Dixon is survived by his children, Dixon, Lillie and Bishop and their mother, Jenifer Revere Doege; his mother, Jan Touchstone Doege, all of Shreveport; his father, Ray Doege and wife, Carolyn, of Houston; and his twin sister, Meredith Taylor and husband, James, and their children, Sanders and Ben, of Baton Rouge; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. A memorial service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 19, 2017, in the Sanctuary of The First Baptist Church of Shreveport with Dr. Jeff Raines, officiating. A reception will follow in the church parlor.Honorary pallbearers and special friends are Greg Ray, Larry Bedsole, Jack Stallcup, James Taylor, Dan Vanderhoeven and Ken Buchan.The family requests, in lieu of flowers, Dixon's memory be honored with gifts to the Dixon K. Doege Memorial Fund at First Baptist Church School.
