Barber, Dolores A. (Nee Alles) Dolores, Dodo, Do, Dode, Sam, Chib, Mrs. Barber, Gramma, Grammie, Friend, Aunt, Cousin and Mom - this is the celebration of a full life, well-lived. Today we remember her excitement over watching Wisconsin and grandkids' sports, her betting (and winning) on Bridge and Gin, the scent of her Clinique Happy perfume, her happiness getting lost in a good book, the click of her camera lens, her high singing in the kitchen, that anything blue was beautiful, her fashion sense and travel bug, her ability to make a friend feel heard, her devotion to God, and her welcoming nature to newcomers. Chicago was where Dolores' life started and took off - born on the Northside on February 19, 1928, she attended high school at St. Gregory's where she met her future husband, Dick. In her 20's she had an exciting career she loved at CBS radio in the Wrigley Building and then retired when she married. Years of raising children, volunteering for the schools and church, outings with friends - from Illinois to New York to Wisconsin - her life had many highs and a few challenges but through it all, Dolores persevered, with a smile on her face, for almost 90 years. Dolores found eternal peace on November 5, 2017, after a two year battle with Bulbar ALS. Waiting for her on the other side was her beloved husband Dick of 60 years. She'll always be remembered and loved by her children Pete (Sharon) Barber, Liz (Andy) Anema, Meg (Smiley) Barber, Chris (Annie) Barber, and Sarah (Jess) Langerman. Proud grandma of Kevin, Hannah, Emalie, James, Erich, Christopher, Cash, Max, Leo, Mack, and Rex. Aunt to the late Nicky, Tom (Rhonda), Lynn (Phil), and Kris (Scott). She was called friend by too many to list - one of the favorite blessings of her life. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 11, at Milwaukee Catholic Home Chapel, 2462 N. Prospect Ave, Milwaukee from 9:30 until the Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 and immediately followed by a reception for family and friends. Private internment at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines, IL in the summer.
