Longtime Juneau Resident Dolores Larson, aged 86, died on Monday, October 7, 2013 at home surrounded by her loving family.Dolores was born on April 6, 1927 in East Grand Forks, MN. to Edward and Margaret Bain. She attended elementary, junior high and high school in the same building. She married Charlie Larson on June 13, 1948. Because of Charlie's job, the family moved from East Grand Forks to Denver, CO to Fond du Lac, WI to Yankton, SD to Crookston, MN to Brookings, SD to Milwaukee, WI and the finally settled in Juneau in 1969.During her years in Juneau, Dolores worked for the State Department of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse and then for the Department of Corrections. She retired in 1986. Besides spending time with her family, Dolores enjoyed playing bridge, poker and cribbage, bowling (at one time, she bowled in three leagues per week) and she especially loved watching her children; grandchildren and great grand-children play sports. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the lights of her life! Dolores is survived by her eight children: Lynne Hanse of Barron. WI; Lee Lewis (Carl) of Juneau; Laurie of Juneau, Charley (Nydia) of Juneau, Scott of Fairbanks, Layne Larson Collins of Palmer, Lana of Juneau and Priscilla Hall Larson of Hilo, HI. Grandchildren are: Alaethea (Luke) LaLiberty; Tanya and Charlie Lewis; John and Steve Larson; Danielle, Ashley, Ryan and Taylor Larson; Krystina, Jake, and K.D Collins. Great grand-children are Cole, Carter, Caiden, Aubree, Kalianna, Jaasyah, Charlee and Nakiesha. She is also survived by her sister, Jean Stewart of Roseville, MN and her sister in law Audrey Burfening of Grand Forks, ND as well as many nieces and nephews. Dolores was preceded in death by her husband, best friend and the love of her life, Charlie; her parents Edward and Margaret Bain, brothers, Don and Rollie Bain, and her grandson Scott Larson.Visitation will be held on Friday, October 11, 2013 at Alaskan Memorial Park and Mortuary from 7:00 pm to 9:00pm. A celebration of Dolores' life will be held on Saturday, October 12 at The Juneau Yacht Club. A memorial service by David Swofford will be at 3:00 pm, followed by a potluck dinner.
