Ehrler, Dominic Edward,Dominic Edward "Bud" Ehrler, Jr. passed away suddenly at his home on October 6, 2017. He was nine days short of his 102nd birthday. He was born on October 15, 1915 at his home in Louisville, Kentucky. He graduated from DuPont Manual High School and served in
World War II in the U.S. Army.Ehrler's Dairy was founded in the late nineteenth century by his grandfather after he immigrated from Switzerland. Bud and two of his brothers continued the business until they retired.Bud had a positive attitude, a terrific sense of humor and loved a good joke. He enjoyed playing poker with his friends. Keeping up with local news and sports and spending time with his family. He was a faithful member of St. Agnes Parish. "Every time I visited with my Dad, we work on some projects around the house and he loved eating chocolate chip cookies " says his daughter, Cathy Ehrler. He remained active and curious until his final day.He is preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Mary Catherine Haag Ehrler, daughter, Patricia Ann Ehrler-Elliot and grandson, Frank Lee Perrone, Jr..Bud is survived by his daughter, Cathy Ehrler (Donald Thurman); sons, Dominic Edward Ehrler, III and Paul Anthony Ehrler (Patricia); grandchildren, Marc Perrone, Thomas Ehrler and Laura Rowland; three great-grandchildren and brother, Michael Ehrler.The memorial Mass will be held at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1920 Newburg Road at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, October 9, 2017, with burial at a later date at Calvary Cemetery, 1600 Newburg Road, Louisville, KY. His life will be celebrated at a 3:00 P.M. reception at St. Agnes Parish Hall.In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that contributions be made to St. Agnes Parish or Hosparus of Louisville.
