Dominic H. King BURLINGTON -Age 86, of Burlington, passed away at his home on Monday, September 3, 2012. Dominic was born on March 16, 1926 in Burlington, to the late William and Anna (nee Hoeffner) King. He spent his early life in rural Burlington, attending Warren School, St. Marys Grade School and graduating from St. Marys High School. Dominic proudly served 2 tours of duty in the United States Army. On February 18, 1950 at St. Patricks Church in Racine, Dominic was united in marriage to Bernice Geraghty. Following marriage they made their home in Burlington and raised 6 children. Bernice preceded Dominic in death on July 11, 2009. Dominic was the owner of King Plumbing & Heating. He was a member of the Burlington Historical Society, the Catholic Central Round Table and a lifelong member of St. Marys Catholic Church. Dominic was the founding member of the Open Door Lodge which provided him with opportunities for hunting and maple syruping. His hobbies included farming, fishing, card playing and he had an avid interest in local history. Dominic enjoyed showing others his refurbished 1930s Model A-Ford. Survivors include his loving children; Peggy (Gerald) Hancock, Eileen (Timothy) Gabriel, Jerome (Carole) King, Kathy (Jeff) Behrens, Karen (Simon) Clough and Kenneth King, grandchildren; Kate (Eric) Reesman, Kelly (Eric) Schneider, Peter (Kendra) Gabriel, Maureen Gabriel, Rachel (Nazz Kurth) Posner, Zachary (Kara) Posner, Jamie Behrens, Jessica (fiancé Cody Dangelser) Behrens, Kelsey Behrens, Jack Clough, Elinor Clough, Samantha King, Haley King and Hannah King, and by great-grandchildren; Cole, Max and Jacob Reesman, Lauren Schneider, August Gabriel and Sarah and Maya Kurth. Dominic was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a sister, Agnes Henningfeld and by a brother, Martin King. A visitation will be held on Monday, September 10, 2012 from 3:30 PM until 6:15 PM at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home. Mass will follow at 7:00 PM at St. Marys Catholic Church with Rev. James Volkert officiating. Burial will take place at St. Marys Catholic Cemetery on Tuesday, September 11, at 2:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Marys Catholic Church, the Burlington Historical Society or to Aurora VNA Hospice.
