Dominic LoPiccalo, Jr. ELKHORN, WI, Formerly of Racine - Dominic LoPiccalo, Jr. age 91, passed away on March 15, 2012. Dominic was born on October 22, 1920 to Dominic and Mary Ann (Lupo) LoPiccalo, Sr. in Pontiac, IL. He lived and attended school in Pontiac. He served in the 102nd Infantry in the European Theater during WWII from 1942 - 1946. He married Victoria A. Comande on July 5, 1952 in Racine, WI. They lived in Chicago, IL until moving back to Racine, WI in 1962. Dom worked for A & P Grocery Stores while living in Chicago. After a series of heart attacks, he worked at various jobs, until he retired from Mettler Toledo Scale of Franksville, WI in 1985 as a set-up technician. He was a life time member of VFW Post 10301 and a past commander. He was also a member of AMVETS and a past state commander. He worked a mean crossword puzzle, loved number puzzles, and was an avid cribbage player all of his life and won many tournaments. He played his last cribbage game on Monday and he "skunked" his opponent. For many years he played poker at Sacred Heart Church every Wednesday night and he was incredibly lucky at bingo. He was a master fisherman and could always catch a fish. He loved ice fishing in Wisconsin and trout fishing on the Henry's Fork of the Snake River in Idaho. He was an expert gardener, a great cook, and read the Chicago Tribune every day. He had a quick wit, a kind word for everyone, and a wonderful sense of humor that will be deeply missed. He is survived by two daughters, Anne M. (Haydie LeCorbeiller) LoPiccalo of Pocatello, Idaho and Lisa F. (Dennis) Hale of Elkhorn, one granddaughter, Katherine C. LoPiccalo of Santa Cruz, CA, a step-grand- daughter, Lisa Joy Hale, and two great-great- grandchildren, Martin and Aidan Hale of Elkhorn, and by his sister-in-law, Isabelle Comande (Nick) of Racine. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Victoria A. LoPiccalo, sisters and brother-in-laws, Lena and Joe LaRusso, Grace and Peter Pace, and brothers and sister- in-laws, Phil and Frieda LoPiccalo, Baptiste John and Irene LoPiccalo, Joseph and Josephine (Comande) LoPiccalo, and nephews Ronnie LoPiccalo, David Marino, and James Marino. Dad lived at Gates Hall Assisted Living at the Wisconsin VA in Union Grove for seven years where he had excellent care and a remarkable quality of life with wonderful, caring people who took care of him as their own grandpa. Dad spent his final months at Holton Manor in Elkhorn and under the care of Odyssey Hospice of Milwaukee. The family would like to thank both staffs for their compassionate and loving care. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, March 22, 2012 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Dad, a daily bible reader, was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Racine for 50 years and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church 2201 Northwestern Ave on Friday, March 23rd at 10:00, with Fr.
