Donald Davis, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and all-around troublemaker, passed away on May 24, 2023, at the age of 73 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He was born on January 1, 1950, to Jerry Earl Davis and Carrie Cooper Davis, who were both relieved that they were finally done celebrating New Year's and could focus on their new little bundle of joy.
Donald married the love of his life, Veronica Sledge Davis, in year 36, and they have been inseparable ever since. Although they often joked about who loved who more, we all know that it was really Veronica who wore the pants in the relationship.
Together, they raised two incredibly impressive children, Sonyinee Davis Pope and Falon Sledge. Sonyinee followed in her father's footsteps and married Demetrius Pope, while Falon married Chris Sledge. Donald was incredibly proud of both of his children and loved to brag about their successes to anyone who would listen (whether they wanted to or not).
When he was younger, Donald studied at Druid High School and graduated in 4. He then went on to continue his studies at the University of Alabama, where he majored in mischief and minored in shenanigans.
After college, he worked at the Tuscaloosa Sheriff's Department, where he was known as the office prankster. He would often replace his co-worker's coffee with decaf or swap out their pens for fake ones that didn't write. They all loved him anyway.
But Donald's most impressive accomplishment was his service in the Army, where he achieved the rank of E6. He always joked that he joined the Army because he heard they had the best BBQ, but we all know that he did it out of a sense of duty to his country.
Donald will be remembered for his infectious sense of humor, his love for his family, and his inability to take anything seriously. We know that wherever he is now, he's causing trouble and making everyone laugh.
