Was born on December 2, 1919, in Owatonna, Minnesota, the second child of Arthur and Carolyn Anderson. He was raised in Saint Paul, Minnesota, with his older sister, Margaret, where, as a youth in 7th grade, a fascination with electronics and amateur radio placed him on a career path as a US Navy Radioman from 1941 through 1945 and the rest of his life. In 1942, on leave, he married Muriel Bousquet of White Bear Lake, Minnesota, and during their 71 years of marriage until her death in 2013, they had five children, Craig, Carolyn, Curtis, Celeste and Cherianne, five grandchildren, Heathcliff, Orion, Morgan, Katy Jane and Heather, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Donald entered the motion-picture industry at the end of the war as a sound engineer for Reid Ray Films in St. Paul, which eventually led to an Academy Award in 1985 while employed at the 3M Company, for the development of a new type of recording film that revolutionized motion-picture sound. Anderson died peacefully on November 17, 2016, in Stillwater, Minnesota, at the age of 96. 651-439-5511
