DONALD H. COOK, 89 WARREN - Donald H. Cook, 89, of Warren, IL passed away on Monday, March 17, 2014, at the Lena Living Center in Lena, IL. Donald was born on January 16, 1925 to Elmer and Annie (Dunbar) Cook, in Apple River, IL. He married Lorraine Wilcox on December 16, 1945, in the Apple River United Methodist Church. Donald served in the U.S. Army, he worked at the Warren bowling alley, did carpentry work for Jerry Sargent, and owned and operated Cooks Supermarket for many years. After Donald retired he worked at Swiss Colony in the maintenance department, and did janitorial work for Warren school district. When Donald stopped working at the school, he and Lorraine traveled in their motor home. He was a member of the Warren Legion and the Warren Fire Department. He enjoyed playing cards, working with wood, and trains. Donald is survived by his wife Lorraine; children, Dianne (Donald) Korte, Michael R. Cook, and Janan (Jeff) McNett, all of Warren, IL; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Donna (Rev. Dr. Dale) Dykstra of Kewanee, IL; sister-in-law, Geraldine Cook of Rockford, IL; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Eldon Cook, great-granddaughter, Paris Vaughn, and brother-in-law, William Parish. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2014, at the Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home in Warren, IL. A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of services on Saturday March 22, 2014. Pastor Donna Hoffman will officiate the service.
