Donald E. Farley 1934 - 2016Donald E. Farley, 82, of Springfield, passed away at 4:14 p.m. on Monday, December 12, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center. Don was born on November 11, 1934 in Springfield, the son of John "Frank" and Edith P. White Farley. He married Urlis D. Pflug on February 26, 1955 in Springfield, and they shared 62 wonderful years of marriage. Don was a 1953 graduate of Lanphier High School. He was employed by CILCO for 30 years as a manager of services. Afterwards, Don continued to be a dedicated entrepreneur in multiple projects that included many facets. Don was best known for his tireless energy and can-do attitude up to the time of his death. He could fix or break just about anything, and was never afraid of any challenge. He personally developed a 36 acre family escape in Virginia, IL for which he was very proud of. Don enjoyed spending time with his friends, family, and especially his wife, Urlis. Don was very "PROUD TO BE A NORTHENDER."He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Frank and Ted Farley. He is survived by his wife, Urlis; son, Tim Farley of Springfield; two daughters, Shawn (husband, Steve) and Naomi "Noni" (husband, Dennis) Pope, all of Springfield; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two siblings, Nancy (husband, Fred) Sterling of Jacksonville and Linda Farley of Springfield; brother-in-law, Jake (wife, Connie) Pflug; sister-in-law, Lael Farley; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center following visitation. Memorial Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Third Presbyterian Church, 1030 N. 7th St., Springfield, with Dr. Joe Eby officiating.
