Munson, Donald E.Donald Eugene Munson, 91, of Fond du Lac, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at his home. Don was born on August 22, 1926 in Fond du Lac, the son of Howard and Margaret (Scherer) Munson. Don attended Fond du Lac Senior High School but left his junior year to serve in the
United States Navy. He attended boot camp at Farragut, Idaho and spent one and a half years overseas at Manus Island as a Seabee. Following his military service he returned to Fond du Lac High School and graduated with the Class of 1947.Don married Janet C. Rodden on June 17, 1961 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Together they enjoyed traveling to their lakefront property in Manitowish Waters, WI. Don enjoyed fishing and was an avid walker. He could be seen walking daily around Lakeside Park. He was also very artistic, showing off his talent through his acrylic paintings, flower and vegetable gardening, canning, and baking. Don and Janet attended St. Patrick's Church for many years where Don was an usher.Don is survived by one son, Kurt (Tanya) Munson of Oshkosh; two daughters, Lynn Munson of Scottsdale, AZ, and Jane Munson of Gilbert, AZ; one brother-in-law, Sandy Kalmerton of Oshkosh; one sister-in-law, Diane Rodden of Ankeny, IA. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.Don is preceded in death by his wife Janet; his parents, Howard and Margaret Munson; brothers, Harold (Bette) Munson, Kenneth (Jean) Munson; sisters-in-law, Joan (Bill) Lemke, Mary (Bob) Sheridan, Pat (George) Pothas, Meg Kalmerton; brothers-in-law, Thomas Rodden and Edward Rodden.Visitation will take place on Friday, September 1, 2017 from 10-11 AM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave, Fond du Lac, WI, 54935. Burial will follow the visitation at St. Charles Cemetery.
