Donald E. Sallee – a resident of Pendleton died on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 following an illness. He was 78 years old. Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. in the Prairie City Cemetery in Prairie City, Oregon. Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is in charge of arrangements. Donald was born on November 30, 1930 in Nemaha County, Nebraska to Keith and Cora Mae (Ramsay) Sallee. He graduated from Kitsap High School in Kitsap County, Washington. On December 5, 1950 he joined the U.S. Coast Guard and served his country as a seaman in the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged on April 28, 1954 in Seattle, Washington. On November 30, 1955 he married Sandra Lee Bowen. Five children were born to this marriage. It later ended. Mr. Sallee had worked as a telegrapher for the Burlington Northern Railroad. He moved to Oregon in 2008 to be near family. He had also lived in Ellensburg, WA, and Yakima, WA as well as Riverside, WA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and rodeo. He is survived by his son Dan Sallee of Ellensburg, WA, daughters Dawna Bond of Richfield, Utah, Darlene Sallee of Pheonix, Arizona and Deborah Pfeifer of Pendleton, Oregon, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded by his parents, one sister, one grandson, one daughter and one daughter-in-law.
