Donald Eugene Miller, 78, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at home after a battle with Cancer. He was born on November 10, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois. Donald served for two years in the US Army. He was a truck driver in Chicago for 25 years with Arrow Messenger and North Shore. Donald was formerly of Hickory Hills, Illinois. He was a stock car racer and licensed pilot. He moved to Yuma in 1976, he purchased and ran Caravan Oasis Motel. In DonÕs 33 years in Yuma he helped build and part owned; Caravan Oasis RV Park, Desert Paradise RV Park, Mountain Cactus Shadows RV Park and Pioneer RV Park. Don loved his cabin cruiser and spending time on Lake Powell. Donald is survived by his wife, Rose M. Miller of Yuma; daughter, Roxanne (Ted) Zdanek of Frankfort, Illinois; son, Donald (Nancee) Miller of Yuma; step-sonÕs, Wm Michael (Roberta) Johnson of Brawley, California, Chase Johnson and M.T. (Debbie) Johnson both of Lewiston, Montana; step-daughter Jodi (Terry) Umphress of Yuma; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Miller and Blanche (Gilbert); first wife, Carolyn (Laduct); siblings, James Miller, Norman Miller, Robert Miller, Bernadine Burns and Harriett Czarny. A visitation will be held at Johnson Mortuary Chapel on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at 1 p.m. A service will follow at 2 p.m. The final resting place will be at Desert Lawn Memorial Park. Officiating will be Paul Gambling. Pallbearers will be Jody Zdanek, Dave Zdanek, Scott Zdanek, Craig Miller, Nicole (Miller) Eyler and Kevin Miller. Honorary pallbearer will be Hank Steinly. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the charity of your choosing.
