PRESTON, Idaho - Donald George Elwell, 94, passed away peacefully Monday, Feb. 22, 2010, at Terrace Grove Assisted Living in Logan, Utah. He was born on Nov. 19, 1915, in Preston, Idaho, to Isaac and Francis Louisa Carter Elwell. He attended school in Preston and graduated from Preston High School in 1934. He married the love of his life, Robrea "Bobie" Belnap, on Oct. 6, 1935, in Preston. They were sealed in the Logan LDS Temple on Oct. 28, 1936.Don lived a life of love, hard work and service and was a friend to everyone who knew him. He was actively involved in several community and service organizations. He held a variety of positions in the Jaycees and Lions Club, including district governor in 1974. He also served for 14 years on the Preston City Council and was a board member and president of the Association of Idaho Cities. He held many jobs in his life. He worked for Safeway Stores for 10 years, owned a dairy business for 15 years, worked for Cache Valley Dairy for five years, worked as a plumber with Lynn Fackrell, owned a wholesale candy business for 12 years, worked for Johnson Drug for three years, worked as a caretaker/custodian for Benson Park and Ireland Bank for 17 years and worked with the schools in a placement program for special needs students. Don was a faithful member of the LDS Church where he served in many positions in Sunday School, Mutual, Elders Quorum and High Priest Group. He is survived by three sons, Donald Max (Teddy) Elwell of Providence, Utah; Emory Wayne (Lois) Elwell of North Ogden, Utah; David George (Sharon) Elwell of Layton, Utah; one daughter, Jean (Michael) McBride, of Syracuse, Utah; 16 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; three step-great grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great-grandchild; one sister, Gwen Elwell Jordan; and one sister-in-law, Mary Lin Meek Elwell. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, three sisters, a wife and a great-grandson.Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, at Webb Funeral Home's new location, 1005 S. 800 East, Preston, Idaho. Friends and family may call from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the mortuary. Interment will be in the Preston City Cemetery.
