WAWAKA — Donald T. Griffith, age 76, of Wawaka, Indiana, passed away on June 10, 2016, at home. He was born on October 15, 1939, the son of Tilman and Helen (Lemons) Griffith in Detroit, Michigan. On July 20, 1963 he married Mary Beth Quinn in Riverdale, Illinois; she survives. Also surviving are six children, Donald (Heather) Griffith of Syracuse, Indiana, Kathleen Scroggins of Kendallville, Indiana, Dean Griffith of Kendallville, Indiana, James (Susie) Griffith of Syracuse, Indiana, Laurie Griffith of Wawaka, Indiana, and Michael Griffith of Ligonier, Indiana; thirty grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lois Lawson of Chicago, Illinois, and Karen (Bob) Lawson of Merrillville, Indiana; special nephew and niece, Doug (Missy) Sands of Columbia City, Indiana; Debora (Brian) Selinsky of Arizona; along with many other special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mildred "Dixie" Rice; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Thomas and Adeline Quinn. Don served his country honorably in the United States Navy from 1957-1961 and retired from Dana Corporation after 20 years of service. He was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus in Syracuse, Indiana. Don was also a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the American Legion Post 243, both of Ligonier, Indiana. He loved to bowl and did so on several different leagues over the years. He also loved to do crossword puzzles. Don leaves behind many precious memories and countless dear friends. A funeral service will be held in Don's honor at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier, Indiana.. Burial will follow at McClintic Cemetery in Syracuse, Indiana. Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at the funeral home.
