Donald C. Henry, 92St. CloudNov. 22, 1924 ~ Mar. 30, 2017Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at St. Augustine's Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Donald C. Henry, age 92, of St. Cloud who passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Legacy Place Assisted Living in Sauk Rapids. Reverend Scott Pogatchnik will officiate. Entombment with military honors will be in Assumption Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and after 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the church. Parish prayers will be held 4:00 p.m. and the St. Cloud VFW Granite Post #428 along with the Waite Park American Legion Silver Star Post #428 will pray at 6:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Don was born on November 22, 1924 in Elk River, Minnesota to Louis and Anna (Plombon) Henry. He joined the US Navy in 1942 and proudly served as a fighter pilot during WWII and the Korean War. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and three air medals. Don served for 42 years, being honorably discharged as a Commander in 1984. Don married Emma L. Barclay on September 20, 1946 at the Cathedral in Corpus Christi, Texas. They moved to St. Cloud in April, 1948. During his military career, Don was employed as a mail carrier for the USPS. Don was a member of St. Augustine's Parish, St. Cloud VFW #428, Waite Park American Legion #428, the French Canadian Society, St. Cloud Eagles Aerie #622, Moose Lodge #1400, RSVP, the Reserve Officers Association and NARFE. Don was passionate about photography. He also enjoyed dancing, traveling to military reunions, bowling and performing with the Area Fun Singers. Don is survived by his children, Greg (Amber) of Cedar, Jeff (Ann) of St. Louis, MO, Mark (Kathy) of St. Cloud, John of St. Cloud, Tim of Campe Verde, AZ, Francine (Mark) Wright of St. Cloud, and Jennifer (Ron) Kor of St. Cloud; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and recently had the pleasure of meeting two great great granddaughters; and brother, Steve "Clete" Henry of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma in 2006; daughter, Connie Wesenberg in 2003; and brother, Lee Henry. Memorials are preferred. A special thank you is given to Susan Mohs and her staff at Legacy Place, the Adult Day Program at the VA Medical Center and St. Croix Hospice for their extraordinary care.
