Donald Irving Knoche Donald Irving Knoche died at home in Bluffton, SC on September 3, 2016. He was 85 years old. Mr. Knoche was born on February 3, 1931 in Hamburg, NY, the son of the late Irving Knoche and Freida Meyer Knoche. He was a graduate of The Manlius School and the University of Buffalo. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked in family businesses during his career, retiring as the owner of Sterling Factories, Inc. in Erie, PA. While living in Bluffton, he was active with the Sun City Veterans. Mr. Knoche was a member of Independent Presbyterian Church in Savannah. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and his hobbies included golf and woodworking. He is survived by Edna Knoche, his loving wife of 62 years; daughter, Karen Zellis (Randolph) of Philadelphia, PA; son, Karl Knoche (Margaret) of Savannah, GA; grandchildren, Alison and Andrew Zellis; Philipp, Caroline, Eva, and Helen Knoche; and sisters Janice Stetler (William) of Ohio and Elaine Hodson of Florida. The family will be receiving friends from 4:00 6:00 p.m., Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, SC 29910. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 9, 2016 at Independent Presbyterian Church, 207 Bull Street, Savannah, GA 31401. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Sun City Veterans Association, 73 Spring Beauty Lane, Bluffton, SC 29909.
