Donald J Marcy 1926 - 2016Donald J Marcy, 90, of Springfield, passed away on Monday December 5, 2016 at St. Joseph's Home. He was born on October 18, 1926 in Springfield to Arthur M. and Mary Faucon Dollet Marcy. He married Catherine E. "Betty" McCall on June 4, 1949 in Springfield and she survives.Don graduated from Feitshans High School in 1944 and served his country in the Army Air Corp during World War II. He retired from the US Post Office as a clerk after thirty five years of service. During his employment he received several efficiency and service rewards. Donald was active with the R.O.M.E.O. Club, retired postal employees, he was a former member of the First Church of the Bretheren for fifty years and he was a current member of Laurel United Methodist Church. Don served as a volunteer with many non for profit and church related activities and he was an escort at Memorial Medical Center for 23 years, and an ardent St. Louis Cardinals fan.He is survived by his daughter Dawn R. (Tom) March, his son Robert J. Marcy, one sister Eloise M. Williams, four grandsons: Tom M. (partner Josh Padget) March Jr., Scott A. March, Benjamin J. Marcy, and Graham M. Marcy, one granddaughter Mia G. Marcy, one great-granddaughter Aleah I. March and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers: Lloyd, Robert, Arthur, and George.A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday December 9, 2016 at Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 East Allen Street, with Rev. Dr. Kent Lolling officiating. Burial will follow services at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 4:00pm-6:00pm Thursday and from 9:00 am til time of service on Friday at Bisch and Son.
