Donald "Buck" L. Bannon, Sr.Donald "Buck" L. Bannon, Sr., 79, of Lafayette, passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2017.He was born on February 22, 1938 in Lafayette to the late Marjorie Bannon Parsons.Donald graduated from Pine Village High School in 1956. At the age of 16, he enlisted with the United States Marines and served until the Marines discovered he was underage. When he turned 18, he enlisted with the United States Army and served for 3 years.On December 8, 1986, he married Ingrid Adam in Lafayette and she survives.Buck worked for Eli Lilly at the Tippecanoe Labs as a Process Tech for 30 years. He retired in 1993.Buck was a volunteer fireman for Wea Township, a member of the
VFW in Attica, member of Beer Can Collectors of America, and Past President of Big Beer Brotherhood Chapter.He enjoyed Bluegrass music, playing his banjo and guitar on stage at Fiddler's Gatherings, attending USO functions, and loved animals, especially his dogs Lady and Samantha.Surviving are his wife, Ingrid Bannon of Lafayette; his children, Donald (Maria) Bannon, Jr. of Pine Village, Kristina Fay of Lafayette, and Mike (Gretchen) Bannon of Lafayette; his step children, Petra (Jurgen) Heuser, Klaus (Tanya) Adam, Michael Lohberger, and Thursten Lohberger, all of Germany; and sister-in-laws, Edna Bannon of Pine Village and Renate Bigelow of Houston, TX. Also surviving are his 10 grandchildren, Jessica, Shannon, Travis, Colton, Koa, Lilikoi, Blaise, Genevieve, Jessica, and Yens and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his identical twin brother, Ron "Squirt" Bannon.A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Pine Village United Methodist Church starting at 11 a.m. with Military Honors. Friends may call at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. Fisher Funeral Chapel & Cremation Services handling arrangements.Memorial donations may be made to Pine Village United Methodist Church or Creekside Animal Hospital in loving memory of Buck.
