Donald Leroy HendersonNewton, IowaDonald Leroy Henderson, 60, passed away from heart failure on Monday, February 20, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, surrounded by his family. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at McLaren's Chapel (801 - 19th St, West Des Moines, Iowa). Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. followed by burial next to his parents' lots in the Veterans Gardens of Resthaven Cemetery. Don was born on February 18, 1957 in Omaha, Nebraska to Francis (Frank) and Harriet Henderson. In 1959 he moved with his family to Des Moines. He graduated from Valley High School in West Des Moines in 1976 and married Linda Reinert of Indianola on September 3, 1977. Together they had three daughters.Don was a dedicated employee. He worked for Foam Molding Co. in Clive, Iowa and Rogers, Arkansas. He later worked for Maytag Company in Newton, Iowa for several years. Most recently he was employed by Trinity Industries in Newton, Iowa. He is survived by his parents, Francis (Frank) and Harriet Henderson and sister, Debra Jo Henderson of West Des Moines; three daughters, Alicia (Jason) Karwal of Adel, Amie (Jeremy) Hill of Carlisle and Andrea (Daniel) Semple of Indianola; and proud grandfather of six grandchildren, Isabelle and Sophia Karwal, Alexis and Tristan Hill, and Jayda and Clara Semple. Don was a very compassionate son, father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be dearly missed by many. He always loved a good laugh and would want us to remember the joyful times we had while he was with us. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Iowa Heart Center at Mercy Medical Center.
