Donald Lester DavisRedding, CADonald L. Davis, 81, died peacefully on Monday, November 28, 2016 at Mercy Hospital.Donald was born on August 23, 1935 in Orange, CA to Mary Jane and Don Davis. As a young boy he loved playing in the beautiful orange groves with his cousin, Carol Jane, other family members and friends in the small town of Stanton. Don attended Magnolia Elementary and Anaheim High School.Donald enlisted in the Marine Corp in 1955. He attended Flight Training in Pensacola and Memphis. He loved flying and serving his country in Korea and Vietnam. In 1971 Major Davis was honorably discharged.After leaving the military, Don continued his higher education to study geology. He loved exploring the hills and valleys of Northern California as a geologist. His love for the outdoors allowed him time to hunt and fish. History was another of his passions. He was a voracious reader.Donald is survived by his loving wife, Carol, children Julie, Shelly (John,) and Tim. Stepsons Tim (Mary,) Mike (Michele,) and Brian (Roxanne.) 11 grandchildren and one great granddaughter.A special thank you to the wonderful, caring staff at Willow Springs.A celebration of life will be held on Monday, December 12 at 11:00 at the Igo Veteran's Chapel and cemetery.
