Donald Wilson Philyaw, 61, (Doodad) of Richlands, North Carolina, passed from his earthly life into the hands of God on Friday, October 21, 2016 at Life Care Hospital of NC, Rocky Mount.Donald's visitation is Monday, October 24, at Johnson Funeral Home in Richlands from 6-8 p.m. Also, the funeral service will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 25 at 2 p.m. Other visitation may be received at the home of Ronnie North, 100 South Cox Street, Richlands.Donald is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Edmond Philyaw and Glennie Battle Philyaw. Donald was born on September 8, 1955. He grew up in Richlands, attended Onslow County Schools and graduated from Richlands High School. He was a lifelong member of Richlands First Baptist Church. He worked at Toot-n-Tell Drive-In in Richlands. He was Ronnie North's right hand man. Donald was a loyal volunteer for the Richlands Fire Department for 15 years. He also loved the Carolina Tarheels basketball team and sports in general. He was always up-to-date on all the news and trivia.Through the years he became part of the North family: Ronnie, Rebecca, Bill, Jenny, Romeo and the girls.
