WESTON - Donald R. Rohner Veg, age 69, passed away on April 5, 2014 in Weston, Wisconsin. Don was born on April 2, 1945 to Rudolph C. Rohner and Adelaide E. (nee: Valley) Rohner in Racine. He graduated from Union Grove High School and earned his teaching degree at U. W. Whitewater. Don began his teaching career at Mitchell Middle School in Racine. In 2000, after 34 years of teaching math, he retired from J.I. Case High School, where he was also a wrestling coach. Don was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting deer, duck, turkey, goose, pheasant and even bear. He loved to go fishing as well and took several fishing trips to Canada. Don was a member of the Hiawatha Warriors Archery Team. He also enjoyed sports and attended many baseball and football games. Don coached several mens softball teams for the Hiawatha and Airport Inn Taverns. He enjoyed traveling to Branson, MO and to Florida. Veg was also a member of the Prime Timers Seniors Club of St. Germaine. Don liked to play cards, especially Poker and Cribbage. He also enjoyed a good game of Sheepshead, where many a heated argument occurred. He was the consummate instigator, a tease, in a good hearted way. Don is survived by his nephew, William (Mary) Rohner, and their children; Alyssa, Katelyn and Nathaniel, nieces; Laura (Steven) Filip and their children; Elizabeth and Joseph Filip; Lisa Ruttenberg, and her children, Sean Ruttenberg and Alexandra Rohner; niece, Yvonne Hunter, and great-niece, Miranda Rohner. He is further survived by Aunts; Marjorie Rohner and Evelyn Rohner, a brother-in-law, Wilbur DeGrave. In addition he is survived by special friends, Tracy Wright and Ross Henderson, numerous cousins, other relatives and friends and former wife, Joan. Don was preceded in death by his mother and father, sister, Ruth DeGrave, brothers; Rudolph Butch Rohner and William Willie Rohner, also his niece, Patti DeGrave and a nephew, William DeGrave. A Funeral Service for Donald will be held at Wilson Funeral Home on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 11:00 am. Relatives and friends may meet with the family from 10:00 am until the time of the service.
