Donald R. Wray, 74New Castle - Donald R. Wray, 74, of New Castle, went home to be with the Lord on the afternoon of Sunday, May 28, 2017, surrounded by his loving family at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie. He was born on January 2, 1943, in Clinton County, Kentucky, a son of the late John and Della (Hunt) Wray of Muncie. Don was a member and elder of the Foursquare Gospel Church and served as Chaplain for the Henry County Sheriff's Department. He retired following 36 years with Marsh Supermarkets. Don was a veteran of the US Army and served in Germany. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Delores (Bailey) Wray; four children, Mike Wray of Whiteland, Dondi (Companion Dan) Wray of Lebanon, Ohio, Lori (husband: Dan) Conyers of Middletown, and Randy (wife: Connie) Wray of Carmel; eight grandchildren, Jon and Matthew Wray, Jared Bright, Haleigh Hite, Kiera and Kylan Wray, and Austin and Brandan Conyers; two step-grandchildren, Jordan (husband: Brad) Conyers Upchurch and Logan Berry; two step- great-grandchildren, Paiten and Amiyah Upchurch; three brothers, John (wife: Phyllis) Wray of Muncie, Ralph Wray of Birdstown, TN, and James (wife: Nancy) Wray of Muncie; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by a step-great-grandson, Wyatt Upchurch; an infant brother, Ernest Wray, and a sister-in-law, Paula Wray. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, June 3, 2017, at Sproles Family Funeral Home with Pastors Jim Becker and Jim Wray officiating. Military and Sheriff's Department Honors will be provided by contingents from the US Army, American Legion, V.F.W. and the Henry County Sheriff's Department Honor Guard. Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Henry County Sheriff's Chaplaincy Program in care of Foursquare Church.
