FALLING WATERS, W.Va. | Donna Joann Swope, 78, of Falling Waters, W.Va., passed away on Friday, October 28, 2016, at Hospice of Panhandle Center in Martinsburg, W.Va. surrounded by her daughter, Janine and son, Charles, after a 16 year courageous battle of
breast cancer.Donna was born on Aug. 10, 1938 in Sheffield, Pa. to Berneice and Roy Swope.Donna was well known for her many artistic abilities. She was a very talented artist, seamstress and cook to mention a few. She loved nature and was always seeking knowledge in all subjects. A master at crossword puzzles and always ready to challenge you to vocabulary or spelling contest.Donna was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Berneice Swope, infant brothers Donald Guy and Eugene Swope and infant sister, Ramona Lee Swope.She is survived by her daughters, Janine Hare and husband Toby of New Bern, NC, Lisa Brown and husband David of Chambersburg, PA, Wendy McClain and husband Shawn of Hagerstown, MD; son, Charles Kevin Hyde and wife Pam of Fredrick, MD; and former husband, Charles Paul Hyde of Keedysville, MD, although divorced, they remained very close.She is also survived by sisters, Patricia Bowlin of Haywood, CA, Nancy Swope and Rhonda Veasey, both of Howey in the Hills, FL; brothers, Ronald Swope of Louisville, OH and Rodney Swope of Howey in the Hills, FL.; nine grandchildren, Jason, Justin, Scott, Jessica, Ashley, Courtney, Lindsay, Hannah and Kelsey; eight great-grandchildren, Charles Preston, Kailey, Tanner, Jayden, Sydnie, Jaxon, Hailey and Alexis. She is also survived by her dog Bailey who brought her so much companionship, love and joy.A celebration of her life will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016, at Clarks United Methodist Church.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Clarks United Methodist Church in her memory.
