Donnell C. Marlin, DDS86, of Noblesville, passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis. He was born on November 26, 1930 to Charles F. and Helen (Batterton) Marlin in Rensselaer, Indiana. He attended Greensburg, Indiana public schools and graduated from Greensburg High School in 1948. He graduated from Indiana University in 1952, was accepted to Indiana University School of Dentistry and graduated from there in 1956.He went on active duty in the United States Navy in 1957 and served four years with the rank of Lieutenant. Twenty-five months of that time he served in U.S.S. Ticonderoga, CVA-14 as an assistant dental officer. During this time the ship made two West PAC cruises, calling in Pearl Harbor, Philippine Islands, Okinawa, Hong Kong and Yokosuka, Japan.He opened a dental practice in Noblesville, IN in 1962 and practiced full-time until 1973 when he became a part-time member of the faculty at IUSD. He continued part-time teaching and part-time practice until 1981 at which time he joined the full-time faculty at IUSD. Dr. Marlin took the examination for the American Board of Forensic Odontology in 1989. He was one of four members of this organization in Indiana. He performed numerous post-mortem identifications for coroner's and police agencies over the years.He taught the Forensic Dentistry course at IUSD for several years after the retirement of Dr. Miles Standish who had encouraged his interest in the field. Dr. Marlin retired from teaching at IUSD in January 2000.Dr. Marlin was a lifelong Republican, and a life-long member of the National Rifle Association, and The Tailhook Association #24977.Services for Dr. Marlin will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road in Noblesville, with Pastor Scott Smith officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will be on Monday, May 22, 2017 at South Park Cemetery in Greensburg, IN.Condolences:

Can you imagine the stories that Don could tell. How interesting to have done all the things he did. Before too long he will start new adventures with us again. Don has a promise to resurrection from God himself. In his word at John 5:28&29; it states that all those in memorial tombs and graves will come out to life again with us.
