Donnell "Don" Osborn, age 77, of Union City, Pa., passed away at his residence, surrounded by family, after his courageous fight against Lowy Body Dementia, on Friday, October 14, 2016. Don was born on April 22, 1939. He was the eldest son of the late Wilbur and Grace Osborn of Waterford, Pa. Don graduated from Fort LeBoeuf High School in 1957. He was a member of FFA, and in October 1960, he was awarded the "Degree of American Farmer" at the National Convention of FFA in Kansas City, Mo. He was involved in agriculture most of his life. He served on the boards of Erie County Farm Bureau and the Veal Growers Association. Don was a member of the Union City First United Methodist Church. One of Don's major accomplishments was the planning and building of his underground home. He loved to travel, whether it be by car, motorcycle, or motorhome. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his daughter, Vicki Schrader; brother, Dale Osborn; great-granddaughter, Amanda Lynn Allen; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Ruth Egelin. Don will be greatly missed by those surviving: his wife of 49 years, Joanne (Egelin) Osborn; daughters, Dawn Osborn of Girard and Susan Osborn of Erie; sons, Bryan Osborn of Bluffton, S.C., Kevin Osborn of Erie, his "third" son, Brian Niggell (Tina) of Union City; a son-in-law, Norm Schrader (Pam) of Union City; sisters, Peg Bifer (Dave) of Melbourne, Fla. and Joanne Holst (Marvin) of Erie; brother, Duane Osborn (Susan) of Union City; sisters-in-law, Lynda Osborn of Henderson, Ky., Gretchen Slyder (Frank) of Travelers Rest, S.C., and Kay Kraus (Robert) of Erie; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be held at the Union City First United Methodist Church, 42 East High Street, Union City, PA 16438, on Sunday, October 23, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a memorial service following at 4:00 p.m. The Rev.
