Robida, Donovan G.Donovan G. Robida, 80, died on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, surrounded by his loving family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Stratford, with Rev. Sengole Vethanayagam officiating. Burial will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Town of Eau Pleine, where military rites will be conducted by the
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6352 of Stratford, and grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The visitation will be held on Friday from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Sauter / Rembs Funeral Home, Stratford and on Saturday from 9:00 am until service time, all at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Stratford. A rosary service will be at 8:00 pm on Friday at the funeral home. Donovan was born on July 12, 1936 in Stetsonville to Anton and Mary (Moran) Robida. He was a veteran of the
United States Navy serving during the
Korean War from January 25, 1955 until his honorable discharge on January 8, 1959.Don had operated a mink ranch then had been employed at Liberty Homes in Dorchester. He also had owned and operated laundromats and taverns. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Colby Lions Club. He married Josephine A. Dunow on May 28, 1998 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Colby. Don is survived by his wife, Jo, and his children, Cindy (Todd) Bennett, Lori (Tom) Smith, Mary (special friend, Dennis) Baker, Brian Robida, Kurt (Kim) Robida, Kristin (special friend, Brent) Robida and Steven Robida, and stepchildren, Bill (special friend, Jan) Meixner and Rosalie (Don) Simonton. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He is further survived by sisters-in-law, Jeanette Robida and Agnes Robida, a brother-in-law, Walter Balciar and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, 2 sisters, 3 brothers and a son-in-law, Todd Baker. In lieu of flowers, the family will designate a memorial at a later date. Condolences may be sent online to
