Dorathea Joy LewisNovember 29, 1926 - October 4, 2013Dorathea "Dottie" Joy Lewis was born on November 29, 1926 in Tacoma, Washington. She passed away in Pocatello peacefully of causes natural to age on October 4, 2013 with her family lovingly caring for her needs. Dottie's youth was spent in the Olympia, Washington area with her loving mother, Viola Challender. She moved to Pocatello in 1941 with her mother and stepfather. Dottie graduated from Pocatello High School in 1945.Dottie married Gene Smith of Pocatello in 1946. This marriage ended in divorce. In 1952 she married Leo A. Lewis of Pocatello. This wonderful union lasted up until 1976 when Leo died. Dottie latter married Harold Catmill in 2008. The couple was very happy until the end when Dottie passed away.Throughout her life, Dottie was involved in many community activities such as the Women's Hospital Auxiliary, Elks, Civitans, Pocatello Visitors Center and some community card parties. Dorothy was a very good bowler and bowled for the Women's High Five Bowling Team for a number of years. She loved all kinds of crafts such as knitting, stained glass work, and doing ceramics. Her favorite things to do were to dance, fish and garden. She especially loved the great outdoors. Dottie was an animal lover. Most of her life she had two dogs at a time. Whatever activity or job Dottie did, she did very well. Her motto was, "If you are going to do something, do it well or don't waste your time."Dottie loved her family and friends. She cherished the times that they had together in Island Park. She took vacations to exotic places like Bermuda, Hawaii, the Caribbean and the Mediterranean Countries. She enjoyed these trips very much. Dottie had a full and productive life.Dottie was preceded in death by her mother, Viola Temp; and her husband, Leo A. Lewis. She is survived by her loving husband, Harold Catmull, her son, Ron Lewis and wife Debbie of Pocatello; grandchildren Randy Lewis of Emmett, Idaho, Stacey and Brent Marshall of Chubbuck, Terri and Dennis Exeter of Fort Hall, Aaron Katsilometes of Pocatello, Misty Navarro of Pocatello and several great grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.The family would like to thank Alliance Hospice for their loving care in making Dottie comfortable and for their assistance in helping the family through this difficult time. Ron would like to thank his wife, Debbie for making it possible for he and his mother to get through this together. Debbie handled everything with strength and love.A celebration of Dottie's life will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 12th at Downard Funeral Home, 241 North Garfield Ave. Pocatello, Idaho, (208) 233-0686.
