Doris Emily Burke Payne, 79, of Culpeper, formerly of Kearneysville, WV, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Dogwood Village of Orange County. She was born November 7, 1944 in Rappahannock County to the late Gabe Burke and Florence Foster Burke. 

Doris loved doing yardwork, mowing grass and working outdoors. She loved taking care of animals. Doris loved to cook, and especially loved her kids and her family. She also liked the Redskins and watching football. 

Doris is survived by her son, William Kirk Payne, Sr. (Amy); granddaughter, Rebecca Emily Payne; grandson, William Kirk Payne, Jr.; sisters, Cecil Baldwin and Janet Alther; brothers, Paul Burke, William Burke and Raney Burke; and extended family and friends. 

In addition to her parents, Doris is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Kirk Payne, Jr. and several siblings. 

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 1:00pm at Washington Masonic Cemetery in Washington, VA.
