Doris "Dorie" GentesAge: 70 • The Villages, FLDoris "Dorie" Gentes, 70, of The Villages, Florida, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, January 31, 2017. Doris was born on March 27, 1946 in Burlington, Vermont and was predeceased by her parents, Armand J. Dubois and Laurette (Beliveau) Dubois. She is survived by her spouse of 50 years, Wilfred J. Gentes Jr. of the Villages in Florida, her son Jeffrey J. Gentes and his wife Roxanne Gentes, her brother Loren Dubois and his wife Barbara Dubois, her brother Robert Dubois and his wife Susan Provost-Dubois, as well as several nieces and nephews: nieces Elizabeth Dubois and her partner Matthew Boudette, Michele (Dubois) Parry and her husband Jeffrey Parry, Tess Dubois-Carey, Sherry (Sanders) Dolley and her husband Scott Dolley, Pamela (Sanders) Hatch and her husband Richard Hatch, and nephews James Sanders and his wife Elizabeth Sanders, Craig Dubois and his wife Lori Dubois, Todd Dubois and his partner Robert Heynen.Doris graduated from Rice Memorial High School at the top of her class and was a perfectionist in all things. Her aspirations were always in journalism, and her professional career with Bell Telephone, McAuliffe Corp., and IBM spanned five decades, most notably as a top-performing senior editor in the communications department at IBM for almost thirty years. After a brief period working for Fletcher Allen Health Care, she retired and moved to the Villages with the love of her life, Willie. Doris was thrilled with her community in The Villages -- playing golf, dancing and working in her flower beds were her favorite activities. But being a hockey Mom and a loving and devoted wife and mother were what gave her supreme pleasure! Doris was diminutive in stature but otherwise immense. Her tremendous spirit and positive attitude overshadowed the pain and sickness which she battled for most of her adult life. Always the backbone of the family, she hid it well and never complained. Her ongoing health struggles have finally ended, but her spirit will live on forever in the hearts of her grateful family and friends. A memorial mass will be held on Friday, February 10, 2017 at 12:00 pm, located at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church 5323 E County Road 462, Wildwood, FL 34785. Reception to follow.
