Doris May Chapman Jacques passed away on December 30, 2016. She was born on March 6, 1924, the first of six children of Celestia and Oscar Chapman of Chicago, Illinois. Her brothers and sisters were Oscar, Jr., William, Eunice, Marilyn and Herbert. Doris was joined in holy matrimony to Joseph George Jacques on October 6, 1946. She was a loyal and devoted wife for 58 years until his death in 2005. She was a loving and nurturing mother to the four children resulting from this union. The family moved from Chicago to Washington, D.C. in 1960, and Doris worked as a secretary for the Department of Health and Human Services in Rockville, Maryland. She also displayed her impeccable sense of style and fashion working as a salesperson in women's clothing stores. Upon retirement, Doris and Joseph moved to El Paso, Texas where they were actively involved in multiple community service organizations. She was a member of Mt. Hope Lutheran Church in El Paso since 1986. Her club affiliations were: Chamber of Commerce Women's Division, Eastside Welcome Club, Discover El Paso, Alpha Wives, and the Red Hat Society. Doris moved to Calabasas, California in 2008 to live with her daughter, Judith and her family (Arnold, Joshua and Matthew). There she became a member of New Hope Lutheran Church in 2010, and she continued to pursue her love of travel, seeing the world on cruise ships with her many friends and travel partners. To cherish her memory and celebrate her life, Doris leaves three sons and one daughter: Vincent, Michael, Judith and Anthony; 12 grandchildren: Vincent, Jr., Askari, Rhonda, Joseph III, Timothy, Andra, Jordan, Joshua, Trey, Matthew, Gabrielle and Joseph Anthony; 6 great-grandchildren: Tiara, Njeri, Shamaria, Jaxon, Michael and Zara; 2 great-great-grandchildren, Jada and Kaylee; and a host of relatives and friends who loved her dearly. She is preceded in death by her parents, Celestia and Oscar Chapman, her husband, Joseph Jacques, her siblings, Oscar, William, and Eunice (Clay), and her granddaughter, Jasmine Doris Baynard. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday January 12, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Kaster-Maxon & Futrell Funeral Home.
