Doris M. AdamsPleasant HillDoris Mae Adams, 91, died January 4, 2017 at The Village Care Center in Indianola. A private family service will be held in the Spring with burial in Hampton, IA.Doris Mae Jones was born on May 5, 1925 in Normal, IL to Earl Ray Jones and Oletha Borst Jones, the second of two children. She grew up in Hampton where she graduated from high school. On January 17, 1955 she was joined in marriage to Clifford Adams. To this marriage three daughters were born: Cynthia Ann, Kathryn Sue, and Mary Jane. They raised their three daughters in Mankato, MN. In 1972, the family moved to Shenandoah, IA where Doris was active in the United Methodist Church. Doris and Cliff moved to Des Moines in 1977 and later retired in Pleasant Hill.Doris was a homemaker who loved caring for her family. She was an excellent cook, specializing in banana bread. She always made sure everyone was well fed. She loved her 'girls', her nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford; her sister, Bernadine Burmester, and her parents.She is survived by her daughters and their families: Cynthia Ann O'Donnell of Altoona and daughters, Allison and Sara O'Donnell; Kathy (Jim) Temme and children, Adam of Washington D.C. and Abby (Adam) Hill and family, Jacob McGinnis, Kinley and Hadley Hill, all of Indianola, Melissa (Wes) and her sons, Samuel and Sebastian of Winter Springs, FL and Chris Temme of Omaha; and Mary Gillotti of Altoona and children, Justin (Caitlin) Bauer of San Francisco, Afton (Mark) Strosahl and children, Amila and Kai, all of Altoona, Brooke Bauer of Des Moines, and Blair and Lincoln Gillotti of Altoona. Doris is further survived by her niece, Sandra Burmester, brothers-in-law Loren, Richard, Robert and James Adams and sisters-in-law, Phyllis Livdahl and Ruth Murray.
