Doris Marie (Bixel) SchwarzBeloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on December 2, 2013 in Ellensburg, WA. She was born on April 27, 1932 in Oregon City, OR. Doris will be remembered for her gifts of being a cheerful, caring, strong, smart and generous woman. She loved living on farms in Auburn, Enumclaw and Ellensburg. A bountiful garden was one of her passions, as well as raising farm animals. She had three children from her first marriage, Fred, Susan and Garry Curtiss. Her first husband, Harry, passed away unexpectedly while the three children were all under the age of six. She worked endless hours just to make ends meet. She then remarried to Paul Schwarz, for over 50 years. They had a child together, Ramona. While settling into Ellensburg, Paul, Doris and Ramona quickly made friends through attending church and the farming community. Doris will be remembered for her volunteer work, entertaining many by being a certified clown, raising her four children, her devotion to God and generous spirit. She always welcomed anyone with a warm cozy home, fresh garden vegetables, meals, and a playful spirit. She liked to make people laugh. She is survived by Paul, Ramona, Fred, Sue, Garry, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Alissa and Todd (Seattle) from Sue and Kirk Boettcher (Bellevue), Brett (SeaTac) and Jennifer from Garry and Theresa Curtiss (Puyallup). The two great-grandchildren, Owen and Josh are from Scott and Alissa Maxwell (Portland). Jennifer is married to Robert Murphy (Renton). Fred and Robin Curtiss live in Texas. We will all deeply miss Doris. But, we know Red Skelton welcomed her with a smile and a joke. A memorial in the spring is anticipated.
