Doris T. Arnold San AngeloAfter a long and glorious life, Doris T. Arnold went home to enjoy the fruits of her labor on Jan. 6, 2017, while in the rehabilitation care of Regency House.Doris was born on Jan. 29, 1920, in Waelder, Texas to Edward and Leonie Thomas and was one of six children. She moved to San Angelo and spent many years working as a domestic, before retiring at the turn of this century.She was a devout Christian and faithfully attended Christian Fellowship Baptist Church until her health began to fail her.She did not have children of her own, but so many looked to her as and often called her Mom. She was always a pleasant person and during her retirement, she became hooked on soap operas and game shows and enjoyed competition, especially when it came to dominoes. She believed that she could beat all comers, but she specifically enjoyed the constant competition from Gloria Branch and Vicki Owens, even up until the very end.She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Arnold, both parents and her siblings, brothers, Edward Thomas Jr., Lovie D. Kennon and Pearly (Bill) Kendrick and sisters, Sammie Grace Thomas and Audrea Thomas. She leaves to cherish her memories many cousins, nieces and nephews along with caretaking companion, foster son and special friend, Bobby Lacy and family, members of the Katherine Hartgrove family, Richard, Liz and Gary, a forever sister-in-law, Winnie Thomas, caretakers Wilma White and Sister Maxine and so very many others who loved her, including those who administered tender loving care at Regency House. Special thanks to Dr. Anderton.Home going service will be at Christian Fellowship Baptist Church, 211 W. 17th St., Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, at 10 a.m., with Pastor Ronnie Hawkins presiding. Burial will follow at a later date.
